Doctorate
Admission

If all requirements to become a doctoral candidate are met, the Doctoral Admissions Committee in the Physics Department will admit candidates to a doctoral degree. The admissions procedure for completing a doctoral degree in the department is as follows:

Due to §10 of the General Doctoral Regulations you have to choose a supervisor for your doctorate. In normal cases, this has to be a professor of the Physics Department . Discuss content issues as well as the chances of applying for a position as a research associate with this prospective supervisor in advance.

Please ask your supervisor to fill-in and sign the confirmation of supervision at the form (opens in new tab) Application as a doctoral student.

In addition, doctoral candidates are recommended to appoint an additional supervisor in agreement with the first supervisor, who will accompany the doctoral project and will be available in particular for questions regarding the progress of the doctorate and career development.
