Department's office / Office for student affairs
The Department's office and the Office for student affairs are located in building S2|01. On the following pages you can find informations, all contact details and several forms needed for different purpose.
The scientific profile of the Department of Physics can be categorized by three different fields of interest. Thus the department subdivides into three institutes. Following Institutes and Groups leads you to a list of groups summing up the special interests.

Institute for applied physics
All scientific work at the Instituts for applied physics deals with questions on Modern Optics. The institute is located at the buildings S2|09 (theory) and S2|15 (experimental).
The main library (ULB) of the Technische Universität Darmstadt is located in building S1|20. In addition the Department of Physics runs a small reference library in the basement of building S2|06. The library pages show opening hours, locations and helpful tips for literature research.
Institute for solid state physics
At the Institute for solid state physics our researchers deal with various questions regarding Condensed Matter Physics. The institute is located at the buildings S2|04 – S2|08.
Student representative committee
The Student representative committeeruns its office at building S2|01.
Institute for nuclear physics
The scientific profile of the institute for nuclear physics reaches from nuclear structure physics and accelerator physics to plasma and nuclear astrophysics. The institute is located at buildings 2|11 (theory) and S2|14 (experimental).
Women's representative committee
The Women's representative committee does not run a departments office. It may be contacted via e-mail.
At the Physics education group our researchers deal with several questions regarding teaching and learning Physics, especially with the Conceptual Change method. The group is located at building S2|01.
