This year's Harald Rose Prize 2023 goes to Dr Alexander Zintler for his investigations into microstructures and interface effects in thin oxide films. His dissertation entitled Investigating the influence of microstructure and grain boundaries on electrical properties in thin film oxide RRAM devices – A component specific approach was honoured. Dr Zintler mainly used transmission electron microscopy (TEM) as a method of measurement and thus qualifies as an outstanding candidate in the sense of the prize statutes.

The award was presented by the Vice President for Innovation and International Affairs, Prof. Dr Thomas Walther, during the Physics Colloquium on 24 November 2023.

Following the award ceremony, a lecture by Prof Axel Lubk (TU Dresden) on Exploring and Exploiting 3D Magnetic Textures with Electron Optics rounded the ceremony.
