A winter walk through the universe

Virtual journey to distant galaxies on 27 December 2022

Between the years, the Hessian Cluster Project ELEMENTS together with the TU Darmstadt invites you again to a very special kind of walk: We will explore the universe in a digital live stream on Tuesday, 27 December 2022, starting at 7:30 pm!

Together with Professor Robert Roth from the TURM Observatory of the Technical University of Darmstadt, we will go on a discovery tour through the winter night sky. With the help of live telescopes in Spain, we will travel many light years into the past and visit various astronomical objects ranging from galaxy clusters and giant stars to strangely shaped nebulae.

At the various stations, there is a lot to learn about the research topics of ELEMENTS. How did the first stars form? What happens at the end of a star's life? Where do these neutron stars, the visible “little brothers” of black holes, actually hide? And what do they have to do with the formation of gold?

The event will take place online on the Twitch platform. No registration is required. There will be an opportunity to ask questions via chat during the event.
