Fachbereich Physik

These opto-electromechanical setups based on metallized SiN membranes can be operated down to ultracryogenic temperatures and may show macroscopic quantum behavior even at low resonance frequencies.

They can be used for rf/optical sensing and transduction of quantum signals, for generating multimode entangled states of mechanical, optical and microwave modes, and even for exploring the connections between quantum mechanics and gravity, e.g., for establishing if gravity must be quantized or not.
